I’m Nathan Thompson, a full stack developer in Denver.

Software engineering is my second career. After graduating from CU Boulder with a Bachelors in Economics, I started at Aon Consulting as a benefits specialist. From there, I quickly moved to the financial manager (consultant) role where I worked closely with actuaries to model total rewards for employer funded insurance plans.

The real excitment was in the automation, and the software behind it, so I took a leap and in 2019 graduated with my Masters in Software Development from Boston University. During my education, I had opportunities to contribute in a hybrid capacity with Aon, but upon graduation worked for the Research And Development department creating internal web applications to support the broader US consultant base.

In October 2020, I left Aon to work as a Software Engineer at Computer Services, Inc. on their white-labeled mobile banking app. The app supported hundreds of small to mid-sized regional banks, and was my first professional experience in hybrid mobile applications. After a little over a year there, an opportunity to go back to consulting came up and I took it.

Working for the Fortune 1000 at CapTech Consulting was amazing. Every project was at the highest scale and I had my first experience as a tech lead. In one day I could work on a mobile app written with React Native, a microservice written in WCF or .NET Core, and a stored procedure written for SQL Server. The experience was a formative time in my development.

I left CapTech late 2023 for a unique entrepreneurial opportunity that led me to creating Proxy Digital, a consulting firm directed at helping other entrepreneurs create their first prototypes.
